Our History and Organizational Structure

  1. Our History- How it all began:

Federal Government Girls College Sagamu Alumni had been in existence since 1980 when the first set of A’Level students graduated from school.


The National body, Federal Government Girls College Sagamu Old Students Association was inaugurated in 2001 by Mrs. Odegbaro (Principal 1999- 2001) and headed by Mrs. Fadekemi Akintoye (nee Ekeade).


On the 15th of May 2006, the Abeokuta chapter, headed by Mrs. Titilayomi Akinseinde, was inaugurated with just 5 members in attendance and in November 2015 the Abuja chapter headed by Adetola Fazaz was created, we also have two international chapters (UK and USA)


The Association was formally registered with the corporate affairs commission (CAC) as an Incorporated trustee on the 24th of April 2018, with her first National Executives, headed by Mrs. Titilayomi Akinseinde, elected on the 6th of November, 2018 and sworn in on the 22nd of June, 2019.


Our Inaugural Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday the 16th of November, 2019.


The aims and objectives of the association as enshrined in our constitution are:

  • Generally, to foster and promote cooperation and good relationship among Sagamites.
  • To uphold the ideas and to promote the welfare and advancement of the Alma matter.
  • To establish and maintain a high standard of ethics among members.
  • To establish relations with other institutions and organizations with similar objectives.
  • Create an endowment fund for the proper execution of any of the association’s objectives.
  • To assist transparently needy members.
  • To do all such other lawful things as may be considered to be incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objects or any of them.
  1. Alumni Structure:

Federal Government Girls College Sagamu Alumni Association (FGGCSAA) organizational structure consists of a 6-member Board of Trustees (BOT), headed by a chairman, and an 8-member Executive Committee led by a National President.

An Alumni Management Committee, comprising of two (2) representatives from each Set club, and 2 representatives from our international chapters who serve in an advisory and collaborative capacity to the Executive Committee as stated in our constitution.
