HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FGGC Sagamu turns 40

When our school opened her gates on the 20th of January, 1978 in Ilaro, no one knew how far it would go in educating the girl child and now 40 after years, we all stand to congratulate the principal, staff, students, parents and everyone that has been a part of grooming girls for excellence in academics and character.

The 40th Anniversary of our Alma-mater was a week-long event that started on Monday 15th January, and ended on Sunday 21st January, 2018.

 

Monday 15th January, 2018

The morning of Day One started with the principal, Mrs. Owolabi, along with the school management team and students planting trees round the school to signify the beginning of new things and ended with a candle light procession in remembrance of our sisters who have gone to join the angels.

 

Tuesday 16th January, 2018

Day Two was all about cultural displays, we had inter-house and inter-school cultural competitions.

 

Wednesday 17th January, 2018

Day Three was another colourful day with the inter-house sports competition, Ogun, Osun and Hadeija came in 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

 

Thursday 18th January, 2018

The morning of Day Four was all about academics, various schools were invited for debates, quiz competition and spelling bee. The day ended with the finals of the inter-house football match.

 

Friday 19th January, 2018

The Alumni took over the activities of Day Five with

  • The 1986 set organizing games for the students.
  • The Principal, Prefects and Alumni members commissioned of the Alumni Hall and wall.
  • Football Novelty Match between the students and our members, of course we won.
  • The Principal, Muslim community and Alumni members commissioned the School Mosque.

 

Saturday 20th January, 2018

Day Six, the exact day our alma-mater turned 40. Generations of sisters from all over the globe converged on the school premises to celebrate the day with the current staff, students and their parents. It was an extremely colourful event with everyone dressed in the 40th anniversary asoebi. The day ended with the launch of the College Magazine and a Gala Nite.

 

Sunday 21st January, 2018

On the morning of the final day, the school held a Thanksgiving service and the Principal commissioned the OrekeBeau Empowerment Center donated by a 1990 set Alumni Mrs. Bosede Sule-Odu (nee Tojuola).

However the Events did not end in Sagamu, on Saturday the 27th of January, 2018, we had our first all sets reunion in Lagos while our Abuja chapter held her all sets reunion on Saturday the 3rd of February, 2018.

With the Funds raised from our member worldwide, we were able to renovate the school Dining Hall which was commissioned on Saturday the 22nd of September, 2018.
